    24 Principles of Remote Sensing Remote sensing techniques allow taking images of the earth surface in various wavelength region of the electromagnetic spectrum (EMS). One of the major characteristics of a remotely sensed image is the wavelength region it represents in the EMS.     Ground target environmental factors, including Target/Background variables, and atmospheric conditions are related to target acquisition by direct visual search and through imaging systems. Imaging systems parameters are described. Prediction and evaluation of target acquisition through modeling and simulation are discussed. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Systems (UAV or UAS) have become increasingly popular in recent years for agricultural research applications. UAS are capable of acquiring images with high spatial and temporal resolutions that are ideal for applications in agriculture. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of a UAS-based remote sensing system for quantification of crop growth.
